Magical country house in beautiful countryside

The lovely cortijo of Finca al-manzil is a perfect place to get away from it all. The finca is an extensive property on the slopes of the Sierra de Montanchez, a unique location in the stunning natural countryside and precious historical atmosphere of Extremadura.

The cortijo is very spacious with a double height sittingroom, the dining room has an enormous refectory table and leads to patio with barbecue and outside dining table,lovely for breakfast. There is a long covered porch with wide views directly outside two of the bedrooms, one bedroom has its own spacious roof terrace with spectacular views of the mountain. Kitchen is very well equipped and has ancient stone table which is an inspiration for creative cooks, help yourselves to the herbs from the garden. The secluded pool is set on a terrace with wonderful views,it has a mild salt water system which keeps it sparkling clean without harmful chemicals.

There are magical walks from the finca on ancient paths with beautiful views in all directions, ideal for bird watching as the environment is so naturaland peaceful. We have 3 horses and 1 donkey in part of the finca and can arrange rides for competent riders. Bikes are also available. A unique countryhouse atmosphere in a lovely tranquil setting, no neighbours, complete privacy. The house is full of character, not an average holiday rental.

The house is surrounded by its own grounds of 20 hectares, woods, mountain paths and wonderful views. There is a great walk to Montanchez castle directly from the finca. Bird watching is fantastic, we have many birds of prey as well as the distictive Extremadura species.

    “Our group of friends and family stayed at the cortijo for 2 weeks in July 2017, it has become a precious memory for all of us. Considering we were a diverse group in age and interests we all found the house and finca delightful. The house is well designed with plenty of shade or sun on various terraces and outside areas, the rooms are all beautifully furnished and comfortable. Of course we spent a lot of time by the super pool. This is a real find, a wonderful house surrounded by nature, very peaceful. We enjoyed the walks into the mountain directly from the finca. Thank you Pippa and Manfred for the wonderful stay, we are plotting a come back!”

    “We loved staying at the barn in May, the house is very well designed with different spaces according to the weather. Everything was perfect and the owners were very helpful in giving us some great tips for walking in the sierra. Besides walking we spent a lot of time relaxing at the barn or by the pool.”
