Neuburg was first documented in 1219 and lies in a charming landscape to the east of Wismar in the Nordwestmecklenburg area. Neuburg’s surroundings are characterised by an original landscape: forests, forested hills, swampy plains and fertile fields and meadows. All of this and the proximity to the Salzhaff (10km) and the Baltic Sea (20km) draw many visitors every year. Notable landmarks of Neuburg include the 750-year-old church, the Wallberg with the Thingplatz, whose open-air stage is used for events. You can go on bike tours to the surrounding villages such as Gamehl (castle), the Lischow country estate (riding stables), Ilow (manor house) and Heidekaten (local artists with their events and exhibitions). Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy the Farpener reservoir lake 1km away, with a fishing permit.
