The house is in the Västergötland region. You can spend your holiday at Spångalyckan, which means happiness at the river, river happiness. But actually that is only half the story. Not only does the river flow across the site that culminates in the lake Fegen, but the site is right in the lake Fegen nature reserve and not far from the house there is a little sandy beach with a jetty and boat moorings, right on site by the river. The house therefore enjoys a unique location that you do not find often.
Sauna with a view of the lake: a light holiday house with a Nordic-style interior, with terraces and a rowing boat, on a large site right by the lake Fegen and the river Spånga within a nature reserve
It is not only the location that is unique. The interior also distinguishes itself clearly from many Swedish holiday houses, with all the comfort of home. You enter the house through a generous entrance area with space for coats and shoes. From there you can access the modern kitchen with a modern electric stove and oven, dishwasher, side-by-side fridge, microwave and various small electrical appliances. The kitchen opens into the dining space and from there into the living room. Both rooms a fully newly furnished – modern, Nordic, clean and light. When you are sitting in the living room on holiday, you can enjoy a great view through of the Fegen through the panoramic window. The living room has a flatscreen TV and a Bluetooth sound system and PS3. The living room provides access to a bedroom with a double bed. A travel cot can be provided. You can go from the kitchen into the bathroom and the laundry room with a washing machine and dryer. Stairs in the hallway lead to the upper floor with three bedrooms. The first bedroom with a comfortable double bed opens onto the roof terrace. The two other bedrooms each have two single beds. The owners have also thought of children and a selection of toys is available. Upstairs there is also a bathroom with a shower. There is a separate WC next to it. The owners would like to provide even more amenities and since autumn 2017 there is a sauna room with a deluxe sauna with glazing, so you can look out at the lake. The house has Wi-Fi access, which can be booked in addition, as one may perhaps need a couple more trip ideas.
The site itself includes about 15 hectares of forest, meadows and parts of the river. A huge terrace invites you to relax, along with the roof terrace. There is so much to explore outside, first of all of course the nearby sandy beach at the Fegen, a swimming jetty and a rowing boat on the river on site, which is included in the rental price, which will delight the fishing enthusiasts among you. The Fegen is considered a fishing paradise. You can also fish in the river, for which you do not need a permit, as required for the Fegen, but it does not cost much. Hunters are also welcome here. We offer you a heated ‘hunting room’ in the barn with a view of fields and forest.
It is a house for leisurely and more active holiday-makers, families with or without children, for fishing and hunting enthusiasts, for lovers of Sweden and those who would like to be. Please note that the boat can only be made available for use on request.
Many guests say that they don’t need to go far at all. The lake is on the doorstep, a boat is available, the forests in the area are inviting. In summer, you can collect berries and in autumn there are plenty of mushrooms. You can set out for cross-country skiing in winter. Perhaps on the way you noticed an unusual number of vintage cars. Many Swedish people have one and cruise around with it, especially at the weekend. You can admire a collection of gems at Bynanders Motor Museum at Svenljunga, a paradise for men. There is a place for swimming in Holsljunga that is especially suitable for children. The Holsjön is a very shallow lake with eye-catching stones in the water. Children can splash around and then play on the long sandy beach. There is also a kiosk with ice cream. If you’ve had enough of swimming, you can drive to the Gräne Gruva, which is signposted from the 154 that you follow in the direction of Överlida. The Gräne Gruva is a disused quarry in a beautiful landscape. A special kind of nature experience awaits you at the Komosse nature reserve. It is a high moor 350 metres above sea level. Komosse lies in the border area of the provinces Smaland and Västergötland. You can explore nature along moor trails. A bit of shopping is also somehow part of any holiday. Not far from the house, about 40 minutes by car, you can find a shopping facility that is known far beyond the Swedish border, GEKAS in Ullared, well-stocked and well-priced. You can take a look at the car number plates there and will see many Norwegians and Danes, as well as Germany. Many Swedes from the north take a holiday and spend a few days in Ullared to stock up, often arriving in a campervan. You can eat well at the Gekas restaurant, with quick service even when it looks full. It has some games consoles and a little ‘kids’ land’. There is also a Burger King next to Gekas. There is a swimming lake is near the car park. In summer it is advisable to visit Gekas in the morning. You should also visit Torpa Stenhus. This medieval castle is among the best preserved in the whole of Sweden. It is in the southern part of the Asunden lake. Some gruesome stories are revealed to you during the tour. You can then also go on an idyllic trip to the end moraine Fjäras Bräcka and Tjolöholm castle, both near Kungsbacka. On the drive there, you can go along the big elongated lake Lygnern and enjoy beautiful views. The end moraine is at the tip of Lygnern. From there you can see Lygnern on one side, and on the other side the start of the skerries coast at Kungsbacka. Then you continue to Tjolöholm castle. Behind the castle, you can swim in the sea and enjoy the sunshine. Göteborg and Falkenberg are towns worth seeing. In Göteborg you can visit the Liseberg leisure park with children. Always take your swimwear wherever you go. Above Göteborg, Swedish crime thriller fans can walk along the trail of the Camilla Läckberg personalities at Fjällbacka. Winter sports fans will also find downhill skiing in southern Sweden, such as in Ulricehamn, which is also worth a visit in summer. It is by a lake and you can stroll through the pleasant town. A special recommendation: Isaberg, also with downhill pistes, and very popular among Danish holiday-makers. You can also visit Isaberg in summer, with a lovely spot for swimming and surrounding area. The Ulricehamn and Isaberg skiing areas also have snow cannons in winter. And this is particularly of interest to women: you go through Gällstad on the way to Ulricehamn, where you can find many textile outlets. The area is generally the centre of the textile industry, with larger and smaller shops throughout Gällstad, especially with Swedish textile brands. There is also plenty for younger people: Lager 157. Information is available on their website. In Boras there is a famous zoo. It is also worth visiting a local football match, as the team is quite high up in the Swedish league. The stadium is in Knalleland, the shopping mile on a green meadow. As Boras is right at the heart of the Swedish textile industry, you can also visit textile museums. The company Gina Tricot is based here. Jönköping is at the southern end of the Vättern. You should plan a day for a trip. You can visit the match museum – owing to its match industry, Jönköping has gained international renown. From Jönköping, you can go on boat tours in summer on the Vättern and you can visit the historical wood town Hjo. We have read that the name Hjo is derived from a Latin saying that translates roughly as: serenity rests here. Whether it is true or just a myth? Pay a visit and decide for yourselves.
