- Grill for your fresh caught fish or meat
- Safe parking lot/garage for your car and your motorcycle
- Gazebo (about 3 minutes walk from the villa on top of the next hill), with great views to the south coast of the Indian ocean
Formerly the holiday house was an old Javanese village teakwood house. During the refurbishment, different artistic stone walls were added to correspond to the needs of a modern traveler. You will always discover something new and surprising looking around at the unique design.
The villa consists of one big room (about 60 m2) that features a sleeping, living and dining area plus kitchen and terrace. It can accommodate up to eight persons:
- three persons can sleep on one double and one single bed with mosquito nets and nice bedding
- five more persons can stay on comfortable spring bed mattresses (upon request)
The villa also contains:
1 bookshelf/wardrobe
1 seating area with antique chairs, bench and round table
1 dining table with chairs
a fully equipped kitchen with a modern 3 flame gas-cooker
1 refrigerator with drinks for sale (soft drinks and beer)
an Indonesian bathroom with western toilet, towels and soap
The white sand beach entices you for an invigorating run, while small kiosks sell refreshing drinks and snacks. (7 minutes walk). Some more secluded beaches are nearby.
The Southern mountains „Gunung Kidul“, as the area is called – stretches along the south coast of Java. In former times vast teak wood plantations covered the area, which had been deforested. Nowadays a deforestation program succeeded and in the rainy season the landscape is lush and green. The Southern mountains are a vast kaarst region. The rain sinks into caves in the underground and emerges often again at the coast. The southern coast is rough and wild, but exotic with innumerable beautiful white sandy beaches with bizarre rock formations. Some of these beaches provide fresh fish and other sea products supplied by local fisherman. Unfortunately swimming is only possible at very few spots. But you often find “bathtubs” – white sandy holes secluded by coral rocks where you can plunge in and enjoy the water.
The inhabitants are often farmers, who mainly cultivate casava, peanuts and maize during the rainy season. In the dry season the area looks quite barren. Tourism is developing slowly. Therefore the village people gain an extra income especially during the long dry season.
During your walks through the fields a smile is a nice gesture and you will be immediately welcomed. Please also respect the people’s clothing regulations. It’s fine to wear a swimsuit at the beach, but cover up while you’re walking in the area.
UNESCO Geopark
Gunung Kidul Regency and nearby Imogiri Regency (Central Jawa Province) are being promoted by the Indonesian government to be a UNESCO Geopark, due to their unique and scenic kaarst landscape.
Coffee, tea and purified mineral water are always at your free disposal, as well as noodles for some simple dishes. Or you can bring your own food and cook yourself.
Feel free to order your lunch or dinner – Western or Indonesian – according to a menu available in the villa without leaving the house.
