Holiday apartment with comfortable and modern furnishing and a fully enclosed terrace
This detached holiday house is in the mountain village Hohegeiß, part of Braunlage. Even as you approach it along winding uphill roads, through little Harz villages, mountain meadows and a dense forest, you can feel everyday life slipping far away. Hohegeiß at 570 – 642 metres above sea level provides everything a little Harz village needs.
The house opened in 2016 is an original old Harz house built around 1900 and carefully restored and refurbished in recent years. Attention was paid to detail and quality in the interior and furnishing. All rooms have a tiled or high-quality cork floor. The cosy living room provides a large sofa landscape, a coffee table, satellite TV and a fireplace. The modern kitchen is equipped with an oven, a ceramic hob, a fridge with a freezer compartment and a dining table with chairs. The two bedrooms on the ground floor are each furnished with a modern box spring bed (180cm wide). The third bedroom has a futon double bed (140cm wide) and an additional single bed (90cm wide), All the bedrooms ensure a good night’s sleep, so you can recharge your batteries for exciting tours through the Harz area. The owner can provide a cot. There are two modern bathrooms with underfloor heating. The first bathroom is fitted with a rain shower, a large corner bath, a toilet, a washbasin and a hairdryer. The second bathroom has a shower, toilet and washbasin. After an exciting day, you can relax in the large bath with a starry sky to end the day. Apart from comfort, the accommodation is also equipped with modern technology. There are two flatscreen TVs and Wi-Fi throughout the house. If you are staying in winter, you will enjoy the large fireplace in the living and dining room, as well as heating in all rooms. The owner provides the firewood for around three cosy evenings by the fire in the snowy Harz.
A 50m² terrace with comfortable garden furniture awaits you behind the house. This terrace is fully enclosed. It is just a few metres to the forest meadow behind it, so you can step out into nature. The cross-country skiing trail ‘am Bohlweg’ or a morning walk with your dog start right here. In autumn you may have the company of a herd of cattle that sometimes grazes on the meadow. Dogs are welcome on request.
In summer, most holiday-makers come to the Harz to experience its indescribable nature. Both experienced hikers and eager beginners can enjoy the well-signposted walking paths. You can put together your own personal tour or take part in a guided hike, getting to know the flora and fauna or listening to true stories about the time when Germany was still divided. The idyllic forest swimming pool is just a ten-minute walk away. You can cool off here in summer. If you are a sports enthusiast, you can go mountain biking along the winding roads around the mountain village, with some challenging ascents. There is a wide-ranging network of mountain biking trails for beginners and the more advanced. It is also possible to go on guided tours and to hire suitable bikes. A tour with a ‘monster scooter’ at Wurmberg is great fun for the whole family. It is easy to get to by bus free of charge with the Harz Card. You can set out on a ride with the legendary narrow gauge railway from the neighbouring locality Benneckenstein, for an unforgettable journey through the Harz area. There are reservoir dams for water sports and fishing enthusiasts. Don’t forget to visit the typical Harz towns: Goslar, Wernigerode, Quedlinburg or Bad Harzburg will enchant you in any season with a unique architecture. You can enjoy winter sports in the Harz region, with well-prepared cross-country trails, one of which starts right behind the holiday house. Just put your skis on and off you go. There are also three ski lifts in Hohegeiß, providing access to various downhill pistes for beginners and the more advanced. Sledge runs and the motor sled fun park are a special highlight for all ages. You can also take part in regular floodlit skiing with a ski party. 900 metres from the house there is the legendary, rustic village shop owned by Mr. Bruns, where you can buy all everyday essentials. It is just 100 metres further to the village bakery, who offers fresh rolls even on Sundays. There is a large discount shop in the neighbouring Benneckenstein, just a six-minute drive away. The whole village has a good choice of cafes and restaurants. It is just 450 metres from the house to the nearest restaurant for a good dinner.
