Founds of million years old fossils are not uncommon in this region. Extinct volcanos, volcanic gardens and museums explain the history of this extraordinary landscape. Note on the guest contribution: To promote regional tourism, overnight guests in accommodation establishments in the municipality of Gerolstein have been paying a guest contribution of 0.75 euros per person per night since 1 January 2024.
